NECA is attending Greenbuild, USGBC’s annual convention and expo, in Phoenix this week. The Expo Hall opens this evening, and NECA was lucky to be set up next to Rosendin Electric, one of NECA’s most enthusiastic and experienced members on the topic of green energy.
Green building means different things to different people, but one thing that the USGBC has brought home with its LEED certifications is that green building starts with green energy – not just renewable energy sources, but energy efficiency and conservation. Reducing energy consumption counts for a lot in terms of LEED. And it counts even more for building owners who want to save money while keeping the power on.
There are lots of beautiful designs and cool products to see at Greenbuild, and it can be tough for electrical contractors to get noticed. Their green building talent is largely behind the drywall, on the roof, or in the basement. The good news is, that talent shows every month as a cheaper power bill for the building.
