$620 Million in Smart Grid Projects Awarded by DOE

The U.S. Dept. of Energy announced Nov. 24 that it has selected 32 smart grid projects to receive a total in $620 million in ARRA funds. The DOE funding will be complemented by more than $1 billion in private-sector matching funds for those projects.

According to an article in Engineering News-Record by Tom Ichniowski the projects include energy-storage pilot projects, smart metering and T&D monitoring equipment. “If the demonstration projects prove the worth of the technologies, DOE says they will lead to more extensive applications around the U.S.,” he writes.

A complete list of projects can be found here.
